Privacy policy

Effective October 14, 2026

ScreenGrab is a browser extension for taking screenshots of web pages, made by C7AI Solutions LLC ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the ScreenGrab extension and this website.

The short version

ScreenGrab does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. Your screenshots are made, edited and saved on your own computer. We have no server that receives them, and we never see them. The one exception is optional: if you turn on certified timestamps, a fingerprint of each exported file (never the file itself) is sent to a timestamping service, as explained below.

What the extension stores, and where

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else.

Permissions the extension uses

PermissionWhy ScreenGrab needs it
activeTabTo take screenshots of the page you're on, only after you click the ScreenGrab icon or press its shortcut, and only for that tab.
scriptingTo scroll the page while capturing it, and to show the area selection and progress indicator.
storageTo save your settings and pass each capture to the preview tab.
downloadsTo save the images and PDFs you export to your Downloads folder.
Access to websites (optional)Asked for only when you start a batch capture, so ScreenGrab can capture the pages on your list, and given back when the batch ends. If you use certified timestamps, Chrome also asks once to let ScreenGrab contact the timestamping service.

ScreenGrab does not read your browsing history and does not run on pages until you use it. It has access to all websites only while a batch capture you started is running.

Certified timestamps (optional)

Evidence mode can have each exported file's SHA-256 fingerprint certified by a timestamping authority (DigiCert's public service, unless you choose another in Settings). When you turn this on, ScreenGrab sends that service the fingerprint only: a 64-character code calculated from the file, from which the file can't be rebuilt. The file, the page address and your screenshots are never sent. The service returns a signed timestamp, which is saved next to your file. It's off unless you turn on evidence mode, and you can turn certified timestamps off separately. The timestamping service handles requests under its own privacy policy.

The verify page on this website checks files in your browser; nothing you drop on it is uploaded.

This website

This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. The company that hosts it may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) for security and reliability, under its own privacy policy.

Children

ScreenGrab does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how ScreenGrab handles data, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. If a future feature (such as optional saving to your own Google Drive) sends data anywhere, it will be off by default, explained here first, and used only when you turn it on.
